Cox Communications Adds NBC Olympic Spotlight To Lineup For 2012 London Summer Olympic Games
Specialty Channel Provides Advanced TV Customers Simultaneous Viewing of NBC Universal’s Coverage of the Games
Atlanta, GA – July 27, 2012 – Just in time for the opening ceremony, Cox Communications has added the NBC Olympic Spotlight interactive specialty channel for its Advanced TV subscribers. The NBC Olympic Spotlight will provide customers a mosaic of live video panels from NBC Universal coverage of the 2012 London Olympics all on one screen. NBC Universal’s networks include NBC Sports Network, MSNBC, CNBC, Bravo, NBC and Telemundo.
While tuned to NBC Olympic Spotlight customers can toggle between the video panes to tune into the audio, maximizing their opportunity to catch all of NBCUniversal’s coverage of live events, real-time medal counts, athlete bios, team USA reports, Olympic news and more. By highlighting a video pane and then pressing select on the remote, customers can choose a channel to then watch full screen.
NBC Olympic Spotlight augments NBC Universal’s 5,535 hours of unprecedented multiplatform coverage of the 2012 London Olympics available to Cox customers live and OnDEMAND, across multiple digital, mobile and tablet platforms, and for the first time ever, over 200 hours of the Games will be available in 3D.
Cox’s offers three specialty “Zone Channels” to its Advanced TV subscribers as part of its interactive TV offering: the Kids Zone, News Zone and Sports Zone channels. NBC Olympic Spotlight will reside on the Sports Zone through the closing ceremony. Each Zone Channel combines channels of a specific genre in one place, allowing customers to quickly find programming to meet their interest.
